For the first time, the Edinburgh Conference Centre at Heriot Watt University now offers the ideal reception venue for Asian weddings, having formed a new relationship with Asian wedding specialists, Scottish-based Saffron Catering.

With its peaceful, parkland location, six miles west of Edinburgh and its many attractions and ease of car parking, the Centre is only 10 minutes’ drive away from Edinburgh International Airport and one hour’s drive from Glasgow, Stirling and Perth. The beautiful grounds and loch lend themselves perfectly to wonderful photographic backdrop opportunities.

The Edinburgh Conference Centre Wedding Capacities and Facilities Fees, inclusive of VAT, from: - £2,550.00 for either of the James Watt Centres (I or II), with a maximum capacity of 500; to £4,500 for both Centres with a joint capacity of 800.

Says Tom Goodfellow, Sales and Marketing Manager for the Edinburgh Conference Centre: ‘We believe with the combination of our facilities and location, together with the expertise of Saffron Catering, we have formed a winning formula of appeal to the Asian wedding market. To date we have hosted one successful Asian wedding and currently have four provisional bookings in the diary.”

Notes:
Heriot-Watt is the eighth oldest higher education institution in the UK. It was established by Royal Charter in 1966, but its origins date back to 1821 through the School of Arts of Edinburgh.

The school was a celebrated people’s college, dedicated to providing knowledge and skills for ordinary working people. It was also a pioneer of equal opportunities, with women being welcomed as early as 1869, 20 years ahead of other institutions.

In 1998, the university merged with the Scottish College of Textiles to create the Scottish Borders Campus in Galashiels.
The name Heriot-Watt, commemorates George Heriot, the renowned 16th century jeweller and financier to James VI (and James I of England) and James Watt, the great 18th century inventor and engineer.
